Baptism

CHRIST HAS THE POWER TO MAKE ALL THINGS NEW.

At CP, we celebrate the life changing power of the gospel by following the Lord’s command to be baptized.

WHAT IS BAPTISM?

Baptism is a public confession of an inward reality of what has happened when someone comes to know Jesus. It’s a representation of how our old self and sins are done away with and we are raised to newness of life. In Christ, we are made new creations, the old is gone and all things are new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Baptism does not save you. Baptism is more about identification than it is salvation. Scripture teaches that we are saved by grace through faith alone. No act that man can perform can save. Baptism is a picture of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, in which, Paul likens salvation for the believer to in Romans 6. His death is our death and His life becomes our life.

Baptism, again, is an outward expression of what happens to the believer at the moment of salvation.

Baptism is a gospel presentation.

WHEN DOES SOMEONE GET BAPTIZED?

We believe that Scripture teaches that someone gets baptized after he or she comes to know to Jesus.

We believe that baptism is an outward expression of an inward reality. That being said, one should be baptized after that work is an inward reality. The only requirement for baptism is to have saving faith in Christ.

We follow the example of Christ of a believer’s baptism post conversion and full immersion that we find in the NT.
